The SportsCow.com Male Athlete of the Week is Connor Chambers of the Northern Lakes boys' hockey team.
In the eight games he has played in so far this season, Chambers has 11 goals and 12 assists. He had an eight-point night (4 goals/4 assists) in a 9-5 victory at Wadena-Deer Creek on Tuesday, December 20.
And his offensive numbers could be even higher were it not for a pair of shoulder surgeries, one in March and one in November, that forced him to miss the first game of the season and caused him to play sparingly in the next couple of games.
Coming into the 2011-12 season, Chambers played in 48 games as a freshman and sophomore. He had a total of 49 goals and 30 assists during those two seasons.
"Connor is a very skilled player, good hands and has a knack for getting to the net," said Lightning head coach (and Connor's father), Shawn Chambers. "He is also on the A honor roll, gets along with his teammates and is one of the leaders on the ice."
As always, we also like to ask our AOTWs a few questions about their likes/dislikes, etc. Nothing too personal...just a fun way to get to know the athletes a little bit better.
Here is how Connor answered our questionnaire:
