Jessica Lillquist

By Kyle Gylsen - Sebeka

The SportsCow.com Female Athlete of the Week is Jessica Lillquist of the Sebeka girls' basketball team.

Lillquist has eclipsed two major scoring milestones already this season.

On December 15, she became the all-time leading scorer in Sebeka school history with 1,814 points.  Lillquist broke the old school record of of 1,802 points set during Joey Cuperus' career when she scored 14 points against the Pillager Huskies.

Then about a month later, Lillquist became the first Sebeka basketball to ever score 2,000 points in a career when she scored 10 points in a game at Verndale on January 12.

She went into that contest with 1,996 points.  The basket that gave her exactly 2,000 came on an offensive rebound an put-back with about 7:30 left in the first half.  She finished the game with 2,006 points and counting.

"Jessica has been a great leader both on and off the court," said Lady Trojans' head coach Mike Heino.  "Offensively, she is over 2,000 points.  She averages 10 rebounds a game and has shut down a lot of good posts in the area.

"She is smart and works hard everyday.  She is consistent and versatile.  She comes ready for all practices and games.  She helps us both in the front court and back court and on both offense and defense.  A great player to coach!"

This is the third time that Lillquist has been named Athlete of the Week by SportsCow.com.  She was also honored when she went over the 1,000 point mark in basketball and again when she achieved 1,000 kills in volleyball.

As always, we also like to ask our AOTWs a few questions about their likes/dislikes, etc.  Nothing too personal...just a fun way to get to know the athletes a little bit better.
