Despite the disappointing ending to the season, the Pequot Lakes football team celebrated the highlights of an outstanding 2014 campaign at its annual awards banquet on Monday, November 10.
The Patriots finished the regular season ranked ninth in Class AAA. Pequot Lakes ended the season with a record of 7-3, including a 6-0 loss to Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, ranked #7 in Class AAA in the Section 8AAA semifinals.
The Patriots also lost 13-0 to D-G-F earlier in the season. The only other loss came at the hands of Detroit Lakes, which was ranked #3 in Class AAAA at the time.
At Monday’s banquet, senior Sabastian Elsenpeter was selected the Patriots’ Most Valuable Player, Offensive MVP and was named to the Heart O’ Lakes North All-Conference team.
Seniors Isaiah Moengen, Alex Tangen and Shane Zeidler; along with junior CJ Borleis were also chosen All-Conference.
Seniors Connor Davich, Joel Ebnet and Henry Liedl, plus junior Kody Kettleson received HOL Honorable Mention.
Moengen and Kettleson were named the Patriots’ Most Valuable Lineman and senior Tristan Jurek was chosen as the Scout Team MVP.
