Ryder Hunstad tallied 30 points to lead Pillager to a 92-73 Park Region Conference victory Tuesday at New York Mills.
Nearly half of Hunstad’s points came from the free throw line, as he went 13-of-14 from the stripe.
“(We) had to answer for (him) all night,” said New York Mills head coach Jason Boe.
The Eagles battled foul trouble all night and shot poorly from the field. New York Mills shot just 35% from the floor and only 40% from the free throw line.
Pillager went 29-of-42 (69%) from the line.
Ryan Foehrenbacher recorded a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Huskies. Lee Quick scored finished with 17 points and Ridge Hunstad added 14.
Zach Bauck had a double-double for the Eagles, scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 boards. Bauck also had a team-high five assists.
In all, five New York Mills players scored in double figures. Evan Perala and Chance Pettow had 11 apiece, while Dustin Gaudette and Ted Hendrickx each scored 10.
Sam Weber added nine rebounds for the Eagles.
"We played hard, but we didn't play smart,” Boe stated. “Some ill-advised fouls really hurt us and we need to understand what is a good shot and what is a poor shot. I still like our intensity, though. We got beat by a very good team."
