Former Patriot Breaks Collegiate Scoring Mark

By Kyle Gylsen - Pequot Lakes

In the final game of her senior season at Curry College in Massachusetts, Kylie Beltz of Pequot Lakes became the all-time leading scorer in Colonels’ women's basketball history.

Beltz, a member of the Patriots’ 2011 graduating class, scored on a left-handed layup early in the second half of a game against Emmanuel College on Wednesday, March 4.

The moment would be a highlight as #7 Curry lost to #2 Emmanuel 63-53 in the quarterfinal round of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference New England women's basketball championship.  The loss ended the Colonel's season at 17-12.

Entering the game, Beltz was tied for the scoring crown with Debbi L'Italien (‘85) with 1,460 career points before setting the record. Beltz finished the game with five points for a total of 1,465.

Founded in 1879, Curry College is a private, four-year, liberal arts-based institution located on a wooded 131-acre campus in Milton, MA, just seven miles from downtown Boston. Curry College offers 22 undergraduate majors, over 65 minors and concentrations, as well as four graduate programs.
