After an outstanding 2014 season, the United North Central boys' golf team could hardly wait to get onto the course this spring.
The Warriors had their best season in a decade last year, participated in the conference championship and turned in their best-ever finish at the subsection tournament.
Despite losing two seniors, UNC is returning six golfers that have varsity experience.
"Most of these guys golf a lot in the summer," said Warriors' head coach Tim Wurdock. "Due to the early spring, they've played a lot of rounds and are looking great."
Gavin Mickelson was United North Central's best golfer last season with average round of 42. He was also named All-Conference and was a Section 8AA tournament participant.
Now a junior, Mickelson will be counted on to help lead the Warriors this spring.
He'll be joined by seniors Brian Hillukka and Calvin Taylor, both of whom averaged 50 shots per round a season ago, sophomores Vaughn Massie (48) and Luke Wurdock (45), along with freshman Anthony Wurdock (50).
According to Coach Wurdock, others that can crack the varsity are junior Drew Hendrickson, sophomore Al Pietila and freshman Mikko Johnson.
