Former Bertha-Hewitt football coach Al Siegle died on Monday at the age of 82.
Siegle was the football coach at Bertha-Hewitt for five years from 1959 through 1963, then for 22 years at Pelican Rapids beginning in 1964.
He was inducted into the Minnesota Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 1990.
Siegle also played football at Concordia, graduating in 1957, and received the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award in 1999.
After his coaching days, Siegle stayed active in high school sports as a referee, public address announcer at football games, doing play-by-play for boys and girls basketball and recording times at track meets.
