More than 140 teams took part in the annual Mega Meet in Milaca on Saturday.
Wadena-Deer Creek was one of the 37 boys' teams and one of the 28 girls' teams competing in the Class A portion of the event.
"(We were) a bit shorthanded and (it was) a bit warm, but a good showing by a number of Wolverine CC runners," stated W-DC head coach Michael Brunsberg.
The Wolverines' girls' team finished in 21st place, led by Hannah Vorderbruggen, who placed 31st with a time of 21:34.70. Abby Motschenbacher also finished in the top 100, earning 80th place in 22:52.70.
Noah Ross led the W-DC boys with by finishing 66th with a time of 18:43.29.
Ryan Olson ran his career best varsity race, finishing as the Wolverines' #4 boy runner at 21:08.63. Tiffany Meeks also had a strong day as the Wolverines' #5 girl runner. It was the first time this season that Olson and Meeks finished in the team's top five.

According to Coach Brunsberg, the younger runners who ran junior high and 9th grade races in the cooler weather before noon had the best results -- beating the heat in route to career best times.

Corbett Wensmann- 150th place in 7th Grade Boys race, 14:50 (2 mile)
Josh Tabery- 207th place in 8th Grade Boys race, 14:24 (2 mile)
Wyatt Peterson- 156th place in 9th Grade Boys race, 21:21 (5K)
Sam Malone- 76th place in 9th Grade Girls race, 25:05 (5K)
McKenna Wangsness- 81st place in 9th Grade Girls race, 25:18 (5K)
