Warriors Win, Advance To 8AA Title Game

By Kyle Gylsen - Sebeka

Top-seeded United North Central improved to 7-2 with a 24-8 win over #5 Frazee in the Section 8AA semifinals Saturday afternoon in Sebeka.

The victory avenged a 19-6 loss to the Hornets in the final game of the regular season.

Kirby Hrdlicka had all three of the Warriors’ touchdowns on the day. Hrdicka rushed for scores in the second and fourth quarters, which were sandwiched around a 43-yard interception return in the third.

The UNC defense nearly posted its fifth shutout of the season, before Frazee scored on a one-yard run by Tanner Bachmann with 8:31 remaining in the game.

Bachmann entered the game needing 73 yards for 1,000 on the season, but the Warriors’ defense held the talented runner in check, especially in the first half, and he finished with just 55 yards.

United North Central advances to the Section 8AA championship game at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23 at the FargoDome. The Warriors will face #2 seed Barnesville, which beat #3 Bagley 33-6 on Saturday.
