After the opening kick return gave the Cowboys the ball at the OTC 28 yard line, the Bulldogs defense stiffened and Breckenridge lost five yards before turning the ball over on downs.
Otter Tail Central got the scoring going on its first possession of the game when Ukkelberg hit Gill with a short pass and Gill scored on a 31-yard gain for his first receiving touchdown of the season. Ukkelberg booted the extra-point to give Otter Tail Central a 7-0 lead.
The Bulldogs turned an interception by Eric Van Erp into a 20-yard touchdown run by Ukkelberg two plays later to increase the lead to 13-0.
The Cowboys’ next possession ended on a punt, which was blocked by Wes Olson. But OTC was unable to take advantage due to a fumble recovered by Breckenridge.
The two teams exchanged punts, the second of which was muffed by Breckenridge and recovered by Otter Tail Central.
This time the Bulldogs were able to turn the miscue into points, when Andrew Van Erp scored on a 24-yard run with 1:15 remaining to take a 19-0 lead into halftime.
By that point, Andrew Van Erp had take over as quarterback for OTC after Ukkelberg was hurt after a long run in the second quarter.
Ukkelberg immediately grabbed for his knee as the play ended, but it was later determined to be a hamstring injury. His availability for the Bulldogs’ Class AA quarterfinal game on Friday, October 30 in Alexandria is unknown.
A little more than halfway through the third quarter, Seedorf broke loose and scored on a 62-yard run to increase the advantage 25-0.
