Bulldogs Blank Minnewaska In State Quarterfinals

By Kyle Gylsen/Craig Olson - Alexandria

The Otter Tail Central football team improved their season record to 11-0 on Friday night with a 22-0 win over Minnewaska Area in a Class AA state quarterfinal contest in Alexandria.

Cody Seedorf was a workhorse in the OTC backfield, rushing for 210 yards on 34 carries.  He also caught one pass for 13 yards.

As a team, the Bulldogs compiled 239 rushing yards and 332 yards of total offense. Andrew VanErp completed 4-of-7 passes for 96 yards, with Eric VanErp hauling in three passes for 83 yards.

The game was scoreless until Andrew VanErp scored on a fourth down play with just two seconds remaining in the first half.  VanErp also ran in the two-point conversion and the Bulldogs took an 8-0 lead into halftime.

With 1:07 left in the third quarter, the Bulldogs extended their lead to 14-0 on a 12-yard TD run by Seedorf and with 8:39 left in the game Eric VanErp delivered a 23 yard scoring pass from Andrew Van Erp.  The two-point conversion run by Seedorf put the score at 22-0.

The Bulldogs lost senior quarterback/linebacker/kicker Tony Ukkelberg and junior lineman Daniel Ukkelberg to knee injuries in the first half.  Neither player was able to return to the game and their availability moving forward is in doubt.

OTC ran 60 offensive plays and the Lakers had only 37 snaps in the game.  Minnewaska Area was also held to 109 yards of total offense.

The Bulldogs now play on Saturday, November 7 at 1:00 p.m. in Mounds View.  Their opponent will be Caledonia, a winner over Blue Earth Area in the quarterfinals.
