For the second straight week, Ashton Kapphahn of Bertha and Jenny Skoog of Menahga have been recognized by the Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC). This week, you can also add another name to that list...Lexi Frederick of Vining.
Skoog and Kapphahn are teammates at Central Lakes College in Brainerd, while Frederick attends M-State in Fergus Falls.
Kapphahn, a 5'7" sophomore, was named the Setter of the Week for the Northern Division. Ashton followed up week one with an outstanding week two for the Raiders (8-0, 2-0 North). Kapphahn recorded 114 assists (9.5) to direct the offense and also had 25 digs, 14 kills, 7 blocks and 7 aces.
Skoog, a 5'9" sophomore, was chosen the as the Northern Divsion MCAC All-Around Player of the Week. Jenny had another solid week for unbeaten, #4 ranked Central Lakes. Skoog had 36 kills (3.0) in 107 attacks (.280 attack %), 32 digs (2.67), 7 aces, 6 blocks and 3 assists.
Frederick, a 5'11" freshman, was selected as the All-Around Player of the Week for the Southern Division. Lexi was solid all-around during a three-match week for the Spartans. She had 22 kills (2.4), 34 digs (3.7), 6 blocks (.66) and a pair of serve aces, including 9 kills, 14 digs and 3 blocks during a 3-0 sweep of Western Tech.
Frederick is a 2014 graduate of Henning High School.
