Junior Abby Ecker scored twice, including the game-winner in overtime as Prairie Centre skated past Mankato East/Loyola 3-2 Friday in the first round of the Willmar tournament.
The Cougars struck first, taking advantage of a power play to go up 1-0 4:35 into the game.
Ecker scored shorthanded, assisted by Gabby Olson, only 1:55 into the second period to tie the score at 1-1.
Junior Mikayla Olson gave the Blue Devils their first lead when she scored unassisted less than two minutes later.
But with just over 10 minutes to play, Mankato East/Loyola got the equalizer it needed on a short-handed goal to send the game to overtime tied 2-2.
Ecker's game-winner came unassisted at the 7:25 mark of the extra session.
Senior goaltender Angela Hanson made 23 saves for the Blue Devils.
Prairie Centre was outshot 25-23 in the contest.
The Cougars will play Willmar for third place today (Saturday) at 2 p.m., while the Blue Devils will face Austin in the title game is at 4 p.m. Austin defeated Willmar 6-4 on Friday.
