Merry Christmas And Thanks!
Hi! It's me, Kyle Gylsen. (Just so you're not confused, the picture to the left is still that of Dan Skogen). With Dan taking this holiday week off, I thought it would be a good time for me to say a few things about SportsCow.com.
First of all, Merry Christmas!
My wife Jackie and I hope that you had and are having a wonderful holiday with family and friends.
We also want to thank you for your terrific response to SportsCow.com.
When we started the site in the fall of 2000, we didn't know what to expect. Since then we've seen more and more people visiting the site than we ever expected.
And your comments mean a lot to us. I can't tell you how many times someone has come up to tell us how much they appreciate having a site that provides local stories and information as well as the scores themselves.
Keep those comments coming. If there's something you like, please let us know. If there's something you think we should be doing differently, tell us that too.
There is one thing that I know that I want to improve. I want to be able to update the scores faster than we are doing right now. Make it my New Year's resolution if you will.
Other than the terrific help I get from Dan Skogen, this is basically a "one-man" operation. And because I also have a full-time job at KWAD/KNSP, there are times when I just can't find as much time to work on SportsCow.com as I would like.
But I am determined to try to improve. And I would certainly appreciate your help, especially if you are a coach.
If you know the score of an event, please email it to me and we'll get it posted as soon as possible. Then, when time allows, email the other event information (individual match results, who scored, quarter/period scores, key plays, coach's comments, etc).
That will save me from having to "track down" the information and will result in a site that is updated much quicker.
Several coaches are already doing a great job of getting their information to me, but there are many others that are not.
So, if you're a player or fan and like seeing your team's results on SportsCow.com, remind you coach, team manager or statistician to get that information to me as quickly as possible.
Also a big "thank you" to everyone who has visited the site, commented on it, submitted information or has generously helped support SportsCow.com through advertising.
Happy New Year!

A Few Moments Of Venting
Last year at this time I sent a SportsCow.com letter to Santa wishing for all sorts of sports great moments, for the Twins, Gophers, Vikings and others. No letter to Santa this year just a few moments of venting as we get ready to say goodbye to 2001.
I am still excited about the Twins. If the greedy owners and the greedy players can get together, maybe the Twins can be saved. Maybe not. It was good to see them make a strong run for the top this past year. And if they play in 2002, it should be fun to see what they can get accomplished.
The Vikings owners and players have shot themselves in the foot over and over. I have made no bones about my displeasure with Dennis Green and his ability to motivate a team. I do not like athletes like Randy Moss who put themselves above the team. I want a new coach...one with emotion. I want athletes who still love the game. I still love my job. Why can't they love what they do?
A few things have happened in 2001...I think I enjoyed the high school sports season more this past year. We have had several local teams make trips to the state tournaments and all indications are that we will have several more make that trip in 2002. Have you gone to see a team this year? Have you gone to watch a team not affiliated to your local school? Go and watch a great team play hard for the love of the game. No parking fees, $4 gets you in and concessions are affordable.
September 11th has left a deeper mark on our lives than maybe even we understand....and we were a thousand miles away. It certainly can put everything into perspective.
There will be no new article next week. So to all the coaches, fans, and especially the players who have made my 2001 great thank you! Good luck next year and keep supporting the high school experience.
From the Pie Hole: Bug Selig you are full of crap! Don't believe we are so stupid that we cannot see the trouble major league baseball has created for itself. Fix the problem! No more Band-Aids. Make some tough decisions and fix baseball.

Ranny And The Scarecrow
Dennis Green pack your suitcases. Randy Moss grow up!
As much as I have tried to shun the overpaid, emotionally adolescent players, owners and ,coaches of the NFL over the past two weeks, once again I have been forced to sit and read and then shake my head over the ongoing saga of Ranny (Randy Moss) and The Scarecrow (Dennis Green).
First, why can't The Scarecrow say the first name of the best receiver to come to the NFL in years?! Hey Scarecrow, it's RanDy. Ok? Not Ranny. We don't know what a "Ranny" is and we don't care. If you can't or don't plan on saying it correctly ever again, then please give him a nickname. One you can say like R or Freak or Sunshine of my Life or something.
Now that I have the 'Crows attention...its time to act like a coach.
When you have a player squirting officials with water bottles, shouting at teammates, threatening security guards, listing the probable starters at press conferences, announcing and then later admitting, that you only play when you want to play and nobody can make you play if you don't want to....then its time to take the young man aside and hit him as hard as you can with a coal shovel on the side of the head until he hears and then understands you!
IT'S A TEAM! Show some leadership just once! Bench him. Give him a timeout. Publicly humiliate him like he tries to do to everyone else. Remind him, oh great Scarecrow, that you are his boss.
Ranny, please remember you were taken in the 21st round not because you were involved in a beating at your highschool that nearly killed a young schoolmate, not because you smoked dope and got kicked out of college...but because every other NFL team understood what a high maintenance guy you are!
Please prove to us we are wrong. Shut your mouth. Play hard. Respect those in authority.
It is fun to see you when you play well, but you're not worth the trouble.
Ranny to the bench and The Scarecrow to the bus station...then I might be willing to come back. Wait...there is Green Bay or Tampa Bay!
From the Pie Hole: Dennis Green will not be fired. He is one of three black head coaches in the NFL and has a winning record. Red would be crucified by the tattooed, body-pierced, tree-hugging Euphorians if he cut this man loose.
Randy Moss has a contract that is so big and cumbersome that no other team will be interested. Randy must stay until he stabs someone's girlfriend and gets sent to Dallas!
