KKK
KKK and I don't mean put three strikeouts in the scorebook.

Every once in awhile the local news forces me to forget about sports and take a closer look at the world we live in. As much as I don't like giving the white sheets any extra publicity...not since the election thing in Florida, can I just sit and shake my head.

This Saturday the Ku Klux Klan will hold a rally at the Minnesota State Capitol. That's ok...it's one of the things my father, uncles, and son have served this country for. The beauty of the constitution is it protects us all...it's written for us all to get behind.

No matter how stupid, off the beaten path, or unusual. There it is, the Constitution making sure we all can have our say...including me, daily at work and through this article...I can write or say just about anything I want. So KKK, have at it Saturday at my State Capital. However, when your Grand Wizzard, or whatever his royal conehead announced on Monday that the sheet-boys will be improving their image in the upper midwest by picking up litter along a Wisconsin highway...I had to smirk.

Get real!

A group that is built around hate, killings, intimidation and more, will improve their image by picking up trash along a highway...Not today! Do you relize other people and service groups do this very same thing...Not to improve their image, but because they like living here...and find it the right thing to do. It's called giving something back to your community! Something I'm sure you don't fully understand. Fine pick up the trash...But tell your boys to stay deep in the ditch....we wouldn't want anyone from Wisconsin to take a run at you!

From The Pie Hole: Congrates to Urbank-Parkers Prairie and Wolf Lake on their wins that past weekend in state baseball. I hope the Twins could just go .500 the rest of the way. The Vikings certainly look strong again to start to start the season...everyone on the bandwagon.

Remember: When you are wrong, step forward. When you are right, step back.

Fragmented
It's that weird time of year for me. I feel like I'm being pulled in 50 different directions.

I like summer and this has been a very busy summer for me and my family. It feels like it is coming to an end, but I don't want it too yet.

The amateur baseball tournaments seem to be brining summer to a close. The Vikings are getting their preseason schedule underway and we want to get excited about that, but the Twins are still making noise in the American League Central Division so of course we want to stay on top of that.

Then there is the high school fall sports stuff...entering schedules..making up broadcast schedules...contacting activities directors, coaches and phone companies.

Plus trying to sneek in a few more weekends or evenings doing some summer stuff, while still getting ready to put the farm to sleep for the winter. All that is important will get done, but I just feel fragmented.

It would be nice to go back to May and start again...but we cannot.

Let's prepare for fall and winter with excitment about what the new seasons will bring.

From my pie hole: If Randy Moss thinks it would be fun to live in San Antonio and move the Vikings there because it's always nice there and because people just love football...then buy a franchise and move them. Randy, take a course in thinking before you speak.

Finally the fishing league comes to a close...only a few nice fish this year...and my partner and I got spanked almost every Tuesday night.

Latroy Hawkins could you please throw strikes when you come in to close a game? That's why they call it a save.

Rembmer: Don't trust lust.

Let Em Eat Cake!
Let them eat cake...they can afford it.

I guess I will not make such a mockery of the owners and athletes of major sports. If they want to pay their franchise players millions and millions of dollars, guarentee it, give them signing bonuses, and cars, and homes, and endorsements...then so be it.

I guess thats what the world has become...more for those that can...especially if it's for entertainment. But is it too much to ask that these high priced boys of the game show a little respect to us...the peons, the lackies that buy the merchandise, the concessions, the parking and the tickets...all at inflated prices?!

They don't have to respect me. I don't even know them and respect is something you earn. But let them respect the game. It was here long before they were and hopefully will be here long after they have left the game.

And let them admit that the fans have a brain. Don't tell us how mistreated you are by the media, the owners, the fans. Don't tell me how these super contracts will finally allow you to take care of your family. Was your family struggleing when you were only making $2-million each year?

Go make all the money you can. We all do that, I guess. But remember to give something back. Earn the money, buy the toys, eat the cake! We will cheer, boo, second guess and curse. I guess it's our way of getting a little cake too.

Remember: Worry doesn't help tomorrow's toubles, but it does ruin today's happiness.
