Baseball And Summer
What a treat to watch the Menahga Braves at this years Class A state baseball tournament!
Charlie Dormanen did a great job putting this team together, and they entertained the locals for two days in Chaska.
There are keys to playing well at any state tournaments...Menhaga did it all with great plays, limited mistakes, confidence, talented players. They pulled it all together and just missed a state title. Congratulations Braves on a great season and a great state tournament.
Menahga also placed Pete Marjamaa and Zach Etter on the All-Tournament team.
Just a few weeks till the start of the 2002-03 high school sports season. Do some golfing, fishing, bar-b-queing...some summer stuff.
Two-a-days start for football soon.
From the pie hole: Love those Twins...Sure need rain...Summer is flashing by.
Remember: To break a habit...drop it!

Here's a note to all the quick stop places that sell pizza. Please have pizza for sale when I stop by. If you have a pizza advertisment in your window make sure you have pizza ready to go.
A couple weeks ago as I was driving from Fergus Falls back home near Hewitt I wanted pizza on-the-fly for supper. Four stops later...still no pizza! Come on! If you had a shoe store without any shoes or a car dealership without any cars, you would suck as a businessman!
I cannot tolerate going back to the pizza area and seeing it all clean and the light turned off! Make another pizza. Even if you have to throw some of it out once in awhile. I will be back if I know you have pizza. Plus, I might buy some chips, a pop, and gas up the car.
Don't advertise something you are not willing to deliver. I like pizza...it is cruel to say "yes" and mean "NO!"
Hey, the MSHSL finally figured it out! In 2004 Boys' and Girls' state basketball quarterfinals will be played in the Twin Cities...Duh!
From the Piehole: We need rain...and I crave pizza!
Remember: Hating people is like burning down your own house to get rid of a rat!

Dee and I were on the graduation eating trail this past weekend. Our "baby" graduated from Wadena-Deer Creek, so we started with a Friday night affair.
Not a bad way to go...so busy talking and entertaining that I didn't eat much. Oh, but the rest of the weekend, we sampled a number of great melt-in-your-mouth desserts, salads of all shapes, sizes, colors...I sprinted past these to the sandwiches.
Every kind of bread...and all the smoked, bar-b-qued, seasoned meats one would want. All the relishes, all the punches, all the .....plop plop fizz fizz...oh...
I once made fun of Dennis Green's inability to slide away from a buffet...I too have sinned! Although Denny could still carry me around in his pocket.
It was great....and you know what....we read about the one percent of the kids that can't stay out of trouble. The others give me hope for the future and confidence that we will all be OK! There are alot of sharp kids out there...and their parents all know how to put on the feed bag!
From the piehole: Just about done with high school sports for 2001-02. Time to start working on the fall schedules.
Remember: There can be no courage...unless you're scared.
