The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Volleyball announced its fourth edition of the Players-of-the-Week honors on Monday, September 15.
Carly Rozell of Dakota State (S.D.) was picked as Offensive Player-of-the-Week, Katie Wangberg of Mayville State (N.D.) as Setter-of-the-Week and Emily Plowman of Valley City State as Defensive Player-of-the-Week.
NSAA Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week Carly Rozell – Dakota State (S.D.) – 6’1”, Freshman, right side/middle blocker – Aberdeen, S.D. – Rozell smashed double digits in three matches last week as Dakota State (S.D.) went 4-1 record, including a 4-0 record in the College of Saint Mary/Grace (Neb.) Tournament. She averaged 3.3 kills per set and hit .250 for the week. She added four service aces, 15 digs, a solo block and 11 block assists. Rozell was named to the All-Tournament Team.
NSAA Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week Katie Wangberg – Mayville State (N.D.) – 5’7”, Senior, setter – Pine River, Minn. – Wangberg collected a total of 93 set assists as Mayville State (N.D.) went 4-1 record, including a undefeated 4-0 record in the College of Saint Mary/Grace (Neb.) Tournament (all matches won in three straight sets). She averaged 8.4 assists per set and recorded a total of 31 kills. Wangberg also had two matches with a double-double – 27 assists and 10 digs versus Bethany (Kan.) and 28 assists and 10 digs versus Avila (Mo.).
NSAA Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week Emily Plowman – Valley City State (S.D.) – 5’5”, Junior, defensive specialist – Simi Valley, Calif. – Plowman had 79 digs (5.3 digs per set) and 8 service aces for the week as Valley City State (N.D.) went 3-1 record in the College of Saint Mary-Grace (Neb.) Tournament. She had 28 digs and served up five aces in a 3-1 victory over York (Neb.). Plowman had a service percentage of .921 in four matches last weekend.
